“I achieved the best reward”

Every person has a goal that they want to achieve. A goal that every person would be happy and proud of. Also a goal that is full of hard work and excellence.  And of course we need to put our very best in that goal for us to achieve it.

This story happened two years ago. I was in first year of high school. I’m so nervous to the point that I can hear my heart thumping because of new classmates, new teachers and new environment. For me it was a big adjustment. But I looked at it as a challenge that I need to survive. I was really challenged especially because my mother had put too much expectation in me.

So I had decided to give my best because I felt at that point I don’t want to disappoint my mother. So I had put all of my efforts. Efforts I had done to finish our assignments, hard worked to finish our projects and excellence I had done in our class discussions. These efforts became worthy when I became the achiever of our section.

When the time my mother knew that I am the achiever of our section she became very happy and told me that “I am very proud of you son!”, this line made me felt like I’m floating on cloud 9.I became very happy because for me it was the best reward in my achievement.

Since then I have believed in "to God, the glory; to my neighbors, the benefit; to myself, the burden," St. Arnold Janssen said, because for me you truly achieved a goal if you had made people around you happy and if they became proud of you.

                    No Fun at All!

There will be points in our lives when we choose to break a rule. Sometimes, by breaking a rule, we do learn many things that make us aware of what is right and wrong. This experience make us also reflect about our lives. Let me share you one experience I had that exactly illustrates this point.

That was a hot summer afternoon. My cousin and I were planning to have a motorcycle ride with just the two of us. We know that it’s not right because first we didn't have any license yet and second we were not allowed to do it. When everybody was busy preparing for my Mom’s birthday, we took the bike and rode like a fugitive. We were having so much fun like that we were yelling on the road. On our way home, a barangay official suddenly approached us. He asked us questions like what our age is and why we’re driving with no license.

We didn't know what to answer because we were so nervous that this official might call our parents to go to the barangay. Luckily, he did not because he said that this is just a warning for the two of us. We thanked him so much and said to him that this would be the last time we’re driving without permission. We went home and told what happened. Of course, we had been rebuked but its ok for us because we knew that what we did was wrong.

From that event I had learned that having fun doesn't mean you are doing right. We have to also follow the rules even if we know that we are not going to have fun with it.
